Quick Facts

Jewelers Tiffany & Co., based in New York, are responsible for making the Super Bowl trophy

The Carolina Panthers gave 44-year-old quarterback Vinny Testaverde the day off from practice on Wednesday as the team returned to the field to begin preparations for the Seattle Seahawks (9-4). Coach John Fox said Testaverde is not injured, but that the team simply wanted to give him some time to rest.

Fox wouldn't say who will start this week at quarterback, but it seems if Testaverde can stay healthy he would get the start over rookie Matt Moore.

In other injury news, wide receiver Keary Colbert (knee) and guard Jeremy Bridges (tooth) did not practice.

Rookie wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett did return to practice.

In other news, former Panthers quarterback Chris Weinke signed with the quarterback-depleted San Francisco 49ers.

Can someone tell me why you sign someone to a contract and never let them play? So what if Matt Moore is a rookie. Evidently he played the QB position at some point in time during his life or he wouldn't be a QB at all. What has John Fox got to lose by putting Moore in as the starting QB for one game? Testaverde has done a pretty good job as a "fill-in" QB but, let's face it, he isn't here to stay. GIVE MOORE A FREAKING CHANCE ALREADY! Better yet, give US fans a chance to see what the future holds. The season is almost over and even though there is still a slight chance the Panthers can make the playoffs, it's not very likely to happen. The QB position is not the only position that needs to be filled with "new blood" but it would make a great starting point. I don't no if the players are just getting relaxed in there positions and don't feel the need to try anymore or what but, if the starters can't get the job done, maybe Coach Fox needs to go to the bench. In baseball, if a pitcher ain't throwing strikes and the team starts getting behind, the manager with pull him out of the game and put someone else in his place. Why can't Coach Fox do the same thing with his players???
