Jewelers Tiffany & Co., based in New York, are responsible for making the Super Bowl trophy

Panthers wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett pleaded not guilty Friday to driving while impaired. Although Jarrett did not attend a hearing Friday, his attorney entered the plea.

A trial date is set for June 23.

Jarrett, the team's second-round draft pick out of USC in 2007, was arrested on March 11 after when he allegedly ran a red light in Mint Hill. According to the police report, Jarrett's blood-alcohol level was 0.12, above North Carolina's legal limit of 0.08.

Please tell me how pleading Not Guilty (especially when you blew a .12 which makes you guilty) rates headlines all weekend long on every sports website in the country? First of all, let he who is without sin, cast the first stone and I'd bet that there are more people reading this who have driven under the influence and not gotten cought. When they are cought, even when they're convicted it doesn't make headlines. I bet Jarrett and the other players in the NFL can now identify with their pet goldfish who can't do anything without someone seeing it. Then again, for the kind of money those guys are making, I'd gladly move into a fish bowl and save my money so I could misbehave after I retired.<grin> I still think pleading not guilty is a non story, sorry guys. If he's found guilty, now that's worth a line or two. If he does it again, then it rates headlines.
