Want your Panthers news delivered?

Quick Facts

Jewelers Tiffany & Co., based in New York, are responsible for making the Super Bowl trophy

Miami Dolphins president Bill Parcells has said that defensive end Jason Taylor won't be traded.

   Right.

Now that the Dolphins have signed Jake Long as the No. 1 pick in the draft, the talk is they are working behind the scenes to trade Taylor. They've spoke with two teams, according to one report. They want a mid-to-late first round pick, but are unlikely to get that. It's more likely Taylor could be had for a third-round pick.

The Panthers happen to have an extra third round pick because of the Kris Jenkins trade.

And so, my question to you becomes: Would you give one up for Taylor, who turns 34 this year?

I would say it's pretty tempting to put Taylor opposite Julius Peppers, but I'd have trouble giving up a third-round pick for someone who might play only one or two more years. That said, I think a third might be too much of an investment for Taylor.  And, then again, given the players the Panthers have drafted in the third round in recent years (Rashad Butler, Atiyyah Ellison, James Anderson and Evan Mathis immediately come to mind), maybe get two good years out of Taylor is better than getting no good years out of a young prospect.

   What do you think?

duh!!! Peppers and Taylor. and who said he'll only play "1 or 2 more years"? it could be 5. let him come.

Hell yeah i would do it, we got an extra, so what?

Gravatar

MONEYYYYY? that thing come to mind?

Without a doubt. They would immediately become the most feared pass rushing tandem in the league. Someone one needs to put that in the ear of the team officials. Jason Taylor has been consistent all of his time in the NFL.

it would be a good risk..however, very risky. the other thing would have to be the money and the contract. low price w/o alot of incentives or at least "easily attainable" incentives. because Pepp and Gross are due BIG dough next off season....

No, but I would trade Peppers for a 1st round pick. In fact, I'd trade him for a 2nd round pick. If the Chiefs can get a first and a third for Jared Allen, we should be able to get a least one first or second for Peppers.

I would take Taylor for a 3rd in a heartbeat. Only 3 years left in him? Fine for me... it's not like we have a great chance hitting on a 3rd rounder anyway.

However, I have a hard time believing that the Dolphins would give him up for a third.

Gravatar

heck yea!!! i would love to have him for a third round pick.

Gravatar

Financially, I dont know how we could do that. But for 3rd round pick....heck yeah!

Gravatar

I would give a 3rd and 6th round pick for him. Worry about it in 2years from now.

Gravatar

trade all the picks to the bills and make them champs, you moron.

Gravatar

NO.

I would give up our 2nd rounder for Taylor. Especially considering how Hurney & Fox have wasted 2nd round picks in the past 6 years. The guy ends up with double digit sacks every year. He and Peppers would be sick!!

Gravatar

I think that it should be a serious consideration if we don't get Harvey in the first round. It will be expensive due to the size of his contract but, its doable b/c salary cap numbers are mythical.

Gravatar

Forget Taylor. Take 1st round pick & 3rd round pick, trade to Oakland, draft Chris Long.

Gravatar

I honestly feel that this is a make-or-break year for Fox and Hurney. Taylor gives a much better chance at immediate success than a third round pick does. Give a 3rd round pick and throw in a 7th rounder for good measure.

Do it, Do it, Do it. I think Taylor can play more then jus two years. When you are playing on a line with Peppers, things tend to get easier for you. Not as many double teams, so thus your body doesn't take as much of a beating every Sunday. If we had a track record of getting good 3rd rd picks, I would say no, but since we don't. Get Taylor, draft an OT in round one, draft a RB in round two, and draft your future QB in round 3.

I could live with two dominant pass rushers the likes of Pep and JT for just a third round pick. We could stop worrying about addressing the DE position in the draft this season. And who better for McClover and Johnson to learn behind than JT? Rucker was good, but JT is awesome!
