An interesting afternoon in Spartanburg.
1. Ryne Robinson injured his left knee while leaping for a pass between two defenders. Robinson got crunched in between Nate Salley and Richard Marshall, who were trying to break up the pass. Robinson later was carted to the locker room, but the extent of the injury is not known.
2. The reason for the late update today is the media was waiting to hear from Julius Peppers, who finally spoke. Check back later and we will have the story for you. Peppers said he feels much stronger than he did last year. There's no updated on his contract talks, although talks are ongoing. Peppers also said he's excited about the move to right end. "It's a new season," he said. "It's a new beginning and I'm excited about it."
3. Jonathan Stewart returned kickoffs with Robinson out.
4. Carolina's top four defensive tackles remain out for the most part. Damione Lewis did some individual work, but no team work.
5. The Panthers added to their defensive tackle depth by signing Michael Marquardt, a rookie from Arizona State. To make room on the roster, Carolina cut center Pat Ross.
